HARD Summer goes off at L.A. State Historic Park downtown, featuring dubstep/house music sensation Skrillex, along with  Chromeo, Odd Future, Duck Sauce, Boys Noize, Ratatat, the Juan Maclean, James Murphy & Pat Mahoney, Digitalism and  Gaslamp Killer. ‣ The 2nd New L.A. Folk Fest takes over Zorthian Ranch in Altadena, offering some 30 artists including Amanda Jo Williams, Ana Caravelle, the Dustbowl Revival, Ferraby Lionheart, Frank Fairfield, Radical Face, Spindrift, the Stevenson Ranch Davidians, Stone Darling and Very Be Careful. Morris Day & the Time headlines the Funk Fest at the Greek Theatre, where One Way with Al Hudson, Sugarfoot’s Ohio Players, Dazz Band and Mary Jane Girls round out the bill.
High Places, whose third album “Original Colors” is due Oct. 11 on Thrill Jockey, visits the Bootleg Theater, with Sun Araw and Matthewdavid opening.
