John McCauley is a busy man. After deciding to go forward with Middle Brother, the side project whose members also include the Delta Spirit’s Matt Vasquez and Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith, McCauley is back at it with his own band, Deer Tick, less than a year later. Their fourth studio album in just five years, “Divine Providence” is set for an Oct. 25 release date via Partisan Records, and according to McCauley, it’s “unlike anything you’ve heard on a Deer Tick album” and “completely uninterested in whatever the hell the rest of the music industry is up to.” The first taste we get from the new album is “Miss K,” which suggests that their girl “talk dirty.” Although the tune still flaunts that nice, breezy Americana folk flavor, one notable difference is that the track gallops closer to the energy McCauley and band members Ian O’Neil, Rob Barry Crowell, Chris and Dennis Ryan all exhibit during a live performance.
