Bands who were all dressed up for Sunset Junction and now have nowhere to go scrambled to find other gigs this week in the wake of the festival’s cancellation. Talent buyers with holes in their weekend schedules suddenly have myriad options. Here’s what’s on our radar (Thursday morning updates in red, Thursday afternoon updates in green:

More to come
FYI, Groove tix told me that they’ll be emailing those people this week about presale ticket refunds.
Fruit basket upset… Thanks, Kevin, for keeping us informed.
but where’s Hanson gonna play
i heard (unconfirmed) that there will not be a Hanson local gig
Dont forget about the Strokes show at Pehrspace! Sorry, had to.
Eric Garcetti Killed the Junction, lost the city of Silverlake over$100,000 in Tax revenue, and moved the Festival out of the Charity’s reach. Thanks a lot everyone for not fighting for a festival that the City was extorting a Quarter of a million dollars out of the community. Thats what gangs of criminals do. The Entrance fee only came into existence with Eric Garcetti. Follow the money! The Lead was that the City wanted to take $270,000 from our community to throw a Charity event for the Community after the Silverlake Neighborhood commission beautified it. The Junction is a charity that also runs a home for at risk youth. Please keep this in mind, and donate after you’ve enjoyed the shows in Echo Park.
Not going to lie a lot of hanson fans are hoping they come out and play somewhere this weekend, I’m one of them. That or at least hanson would tell us they aren’t trying to rebook.
it’s spelled Silver Lake, and it isn’t a city
In the wake of the junction dodging the Live Nation corporate bullet, there will also be micro events going on at places like 4100 bar parking lot, Atlantis Motor Shop, Living Room, Pull My Daisy & others.
I’m looking forward to seeing Butch Walker. but since im driveing 300+ miles i just need to know where and when if you guys could. Thanks so much
“The City Of Silverlake”? Did I miss the news that Silverlake had incorporated and become its own city?
Sunset Junction has become a joke over the past few years. Good riddance!
just for another point of view
i will miss sunset junction this year
i have gone a number of times over the years and always had a good time
went the past 2 years both days all day
went for the music, and saw alot of it for a cheap price and never had any issues at all. made the sushi rest down near the edgecliffe stage a regular stop during the festival
So I take it at this point it’s not looking good for a Melvins make-up show?
Looks like Helmet just picked up a show at the Viper Room on Saturday.

Missing a gig, The Lexingtons playing at Silverlake Lounge on Saturday now, https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=264271620268657&ref=ts
were the Lexingtons scheduled to play Sunset Junction? don’t remember seeing them on the schedule
I had always heard the organizers were shady, so it doesn’t surprise me. I just feel bad for the vendors and bands. I’m glad to hear that the bands are finding alternate venues. I may have to check out the Dangerbird party and Helmet at the Viper Room(!) Still super bummed it got cancelled, but now I get to go to the Serge Gainsbourg Tribute Concert at the Bowl on Sunday night instead. I work with the Bowl and am super excited that I can now work this show.
If anyone out there is a fan, they are performing Histoire de Melody Nelson in full, plus other Gainsbourg hits. The lineup is pretty awesome too: Beck, Sean Lennon, Mike Patton, Ed Droste from Grizzly Bear and Valerie Legrand from Beach House.

Lemons into lemonade, right?
