FYFxLOMO: A look at DIY in L.A.

0

Just in time for this year’s FYF festivities: FYF Fest and Analog V. Digital, a collaboration between former L.A. photographer Benjamin Hoste and Lomography, has come together for a nice recap of the local music scene through particular lenses used last year. Featuring  photography and perspectives from musicians and fans – in addition to some nice essays from bloggers Justin Gage, Ben McShane and Joe FielderFYFxLOMO‘s final product is a testament to the community’s DIY scene in L.A. The site displaying the final product offers photos from various types of cameras and film, an FYF mixtape (which you can download, or stream while you explore the site) with tracks contributed by artists such as Local Natives, the Soft Pack and Abe Vigoda, and a nice trailer (above) that captures a multi-view of last year’s festival. Although Hoste has recently moved to Missouri to further pursue photojournalism, he presents the project with much pride. “It was a lot of fun,” Hoste says, “and great to be able to bring so many creative people into the fold and see how they approached documenting FYF.” Whether the Labor Day festival fell short on different counts for others, FYFxLOMO sure does show the fun side of FYF Fest and may even excite others for this weekend through its collection of colors and moments.
