Thursday things, and there are plenty:
‣ Robbers on High Street – the New Yorkers’ new album “Hey There Golden Hair” will simply hit you in your pop place – headline the Roxy, with L.A.’s the Allah-Las and the Street & Babe Shadow opening. (Your friendly neighborhood Buzz Bands LA blogger will be DJing the evening.)
‣ The Horrors rock the El Rey Theatre behind their new album “Skying.” The Stepkids [see Monday’s post] open. That’s the Horrors’ video for “Still Life,” above.
‣ Good reason to get to the Satellite early tonight – the “secret” guests at 8 p.m. are “A Chorus of Storytellers” – and, well, that’s the title of a record by the Album Leaf. Two good local bands will follows, Incan Abraham and Mind the Gap.
‣ Our favorite talking animals from Sweden, Teddybears – and we’re still a little creeped out by this video – headline the Echoplex behind their new album “Devil’s Music.”
‣ And there’s a value-added local bill at the Bootleg Theater – Robotanists and Baron Von Luxxury head up the night with Sleeping Bags playing early and, visiting from NYC, Spirit Animal doing the late set.
