Video: Neon Indian, ‘Polish Girl’

Alan Palomo’s project Neon Indian initially surfaced after he had written a batch of songs that didn’t quite fit with his band Vega, but his entrance into the chillwave scene along with others such as Toro Y Moi and Washed Out did not go unnoticed with hazy anthems such as “Deadbeat Summer” off his appropriately titled “Psychic Chasms.” Palamo now returns with a sophomore release titled “Era Extraña” under the same moniker (via Static Tongues and Mom & Pop Music), but has stepped away from electro-infused psychedelia in favor of a crisper and disco-tinted groove on some songs such as his latest single, “Polish Girl.” Pop-synth courses through a song that is perfectly matched up with the clip on which the Creators Project and director Tim Nackashi collaborated. Reminiscent of cyber-themed movies in the ’70s and ’80s, it’s a story about love at first scan.
