Friday fun:

Tinariwen visits the El Rey Theatre as part of the Ooh LA L.A. Festival, abetted by TV on the Radio. The Malian band recorded their new album “Tassili” (which came out in August) in the Algerian desert with contributions from TVOTR’s Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone (as well as Nels Cline and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band). Tonight’s installment of Ooh LA L.A. also features Hindi Zahra and Globesonic.
Neon Indian and Com Truise continue their string of SoCal dates with a sold-out show at the Troubadour.
Active Child returns to the site of his memorable August residency to do a show at the Echo.
‣ Grammy-winning jazz singer Esperanza Spalding holds forth at the Orpheum.
Emily O’Halloran celebrates the release of her album “Morphine & Cupcakes” with a show at Room 5.
The Nocturnes bring their gauzy goodness to the Central SAPC.
‣ And Hugh Laurie – yeah, that Hugh Laurie – brings his New Orleans-flavored jazz and blues to the Mint.
