The press release says the Black Box Revelation’s forthcoming “Shiver of Joy” EP is the duo’s first U.S. release, which means this 2007 nugget on the Buzz Bands LA shelves titled “Set Your Head on Fire” must be a happy accident. Whatever. That’s when singer-guitarist Jan Paternoster and drummer Dries Van Dijck first stirred my Belgian blood* with a familiar brand scuzzy garage-rock that’s perfect for leather jackets and late nights. They’ve been around since 2005, have visited L.A. on occasion (with good results) and in 2010 released an album called “Silver Threats” that features the scorcher “High on a Wire.” The title track off the new EP is a nice introduction.
