L.A. Buzz Bands show, tonight at 12 on KCSN

1

Join me tonight on KCSN (88.5 FM, or at KCSN.org for Internet listeners) for this week’s installment of the L.A. Buzz Bands show – I’ll have new music from longtime favorites such as Stew & the Negro Problem and Light FM, as well as tracks from newbies Yellow Red Sparks, United Ghosts, Youngblood Hawke and Papa. And I’ll finish the show with my “Hall of Fame” song – it’s a track that turned out to be pretty groundbreaking, from an album by an L.A. artist that marks its 10-year anniversary this month. Tune in, won’t you?

After the jump, the playlist:

Stew & the Negro Problem, “Leave Believe”
Yellow Red Sparks, “Buy Me Honey”
United Ghosts, “Holes Into the Night”
Light FM, “Mercy”
Dum Dum Girls, “Wasted Away”
Youngblood Hawke, “Forever”
Mind the Gap, “Meant to Be”
Chris Pierce, “Too Heavy”
Soft Swells, “Every Little Thing”
The Alternates, “Spiders and Webs”
Gardens & Villa, “Spacetime”
Papa, “I Am the Lion King”
Pageants, “Words as Pictures”
The Fling, “You’re in My Dream”
* Dntel, “(This Is) The Dream of Evan and Chan”

** BBLA Hall of Fame track. This song, on Dntel’s album “Life Is Full of Possibilities” (10 years old this month) was the first collaboration between Jimmy Tamborello and Ben Gibbard, who went on to make an album as the Postal Service.

Note: Join me next week for a special “Pump the Power” edition of the LA Buzz Bands show – it’s KCSN’s fall pledge drive, and we will be soliciting listener support to help increase the station’s signal strength.
