Soulful Sunday.
‣Holy psychedelic soul, Batman! Van Hunt will bring his musical alchemy to the Troubadour stage tonight and I bet a life will be changed. This is #winning.
‣Empire of the Sun (Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore) are at Club Nokia and round out what’s been a good week of Aussie bands in Los Angeles. Yet another chance to get your electro/pop dance on. Sold out show, folks, with Mayer Hawthorne.
‣Pre-their return trip to CMJ and in between supporting gigs with the Lemonheads, the youth and energy of New Zealand’s Street Chant have a busy day in L.A.: first an in-store at Origami Vinyl at 7pm, then on the Part Time Punks bill at the Echo with Cool Moms and Neonates.
‣Young man + old soul = Chris Pierce at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach. Touring on his latest album “I Can Hear You”, the goodness of that faithful R&B sound is worth the short drive. See Kevin’s words on the man “Ears Wide Open”-style and grab a download right HERE.
