The live lineup for The War On Drugs, which is the moniker Adam Granduciel records under, may have gone through several changes (initially including Kurt Vile), but the rocker from Philadelphia, PA., has been able to hold his own ground long enough to release a second studio album. In fact, “Slave Ambient” (out now via Secretly Canadian) goes beyond his Americana roots for a lush amalgamation of drone, distortion and deep sentimental lyrics that plays with the psychedelia borderline. With vocals that fall in between Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, guitar melodies sprawl out for intense atmospherics as much as they get meticulously looped in with electronic components here.
