Pavement fans may still be wishing for another reunion tour but Stephen Malkmus is happily touring with the Jicks in support of their latest album “Mirror Traffic.” Although he’ll always be praised for his underrated days in the acclaimed ’90s band, the nonchalance and cleverness embedded in Malkmus’ mind has only gotten sharper. Songs such as “Senator,” along with its the hilarious video starring Jack Black, ironically twist the game of corrupted politics in his smart-alec remarks. Other tracks such as “Tigers” are more carefree than tunes on previous albums with the Jicks, but the witty lyrics are always there to accompany any extreme accessibility in melody.
