Help celebrate Buzz Bands LA’s 3-Year Anniversary with Everest and more, tonight at the Echo

Three years and more than 3,300 posts ago, I launched Buzz Bands LA as way to stay busy after my employers politely told me they no longer needed my services. I had no illusions that, in a blog world populated by younger, faster, tech-savvier talent, very many people would care. So color me flattered that Buzz Bands LA has survived three years, and as of this summer attracted a record number of visitors.
Tonight I invite you to join me for a celebration. BBLA’s birthday show at the Echo features three excellent bands – Everest, Hands and Death to Anders. DJing the proceedings will be Duke and Sylvia Logan, two longtime supporters and staples of local music community, Duke via his blog You Set the Scene and Sylvia thanks to her long tenure at the club now known as the Satellite (not to mention her sorely missed Internet radio show back in the Little Radio days).
In case you bring an appetite for more than music, there will be free Popchips at the merch table for the first 100 people who stop by.
Admission is $8 at the door – but only $5 if you RSVP to buzzbandsla(at)gmail(dot)com before 3 p.m.
And since it’s all about the music, download some fresh tunes from tonight’s bands:
‣ Death to Anders, “Two Chords”
Doors at 8:30; music starts at 9. Hope to see you there.
congradulations on 3 years, over that time and before you have played a part in keeping me aware things going on musically in this fine city and keep this old guy going off the sofa and out to see music many nights of the week. it is also worth noting that in the 3 years many of the “younger, faster, tech-savvier talent” have gone by the wayside but you are still here, a positive i feel. congradulations again.
