Download: Motopony, ‘Seer’

Seattle’s Motopony has a sound that refuses to be captured and boxed in one genre, and this stubbornness can be heard in the drastic change from their first single to their latest single, “Seer.” Whereas the lilting folk-pop serenade of “King of Diamonds” showcased Daniel Blue’s vocals in a vulnerable tone, “Seer” kicks it up a notch with elements of soul and funk, making it apparent this rock quartet allows their music to soar in whichever direction they please – and it works best that way. Buddy Ross, Brantley Cade and Forrest Mauvis may be indulging Blue’s wild creativity (he was both a fashion designer and writer after all), but despite the “glitch folk” label they’ve earned, the flow of their music seems to be going strong without a care for interruptions.
