Video: WIM, ‘See You Hurry’

WIM did not fail to impress us when they were one of the many bands to represent Australia last month during Culture Collide, and we’re glad the invasion of Oz bands hasn’t stopped since then. Returning to L.A. with their dramatically lush orchestrations in support of their self-titled debut (out today via Modular Recordings), the rock quintet consisting of members Simon Jankelson, Martin Solomon, Saul Wodak, Harry Thynne and Dustin Bookatz will please fans of Grizzly Bear, Arcade Fire and, perhaps, a heavily sedated Patrick Wolf. A lot of noise can be made from a band that includes a floor tom-pounding keyboardist and bow-strumming guitarist, but Solomon’s baritone is majestic in the midst of beautifully controlled reverb and ethereal choruses. Noise, this is not; the melodies are hypnotic as the video (starring model Louise Van De Vorst in the nude) for their latest track “See You Hurry” is, which includes a twist at the end.
