Video: Tennis, ‘Deep in the Woods’

The new music video from Baltimore trio Tennis may give you the creeps as you see one of the sisters dragging a plastic bag that seems to be leaking blood, but it’s almost refreshing, considering the band’s obsession with sailing in the past. Although their seven-month expedition along the Atlantic coast yielded undeniably catchy pop tunes such as “Marathon” for their debut EP “Baltimore,” their forthcoming record, “Young and Old” (produced by Patrick Carney of the Black Keys and out Feb. 14 via Fat Possum) has evolved past their previously sunny surf vibes. Both tracks “Deep in the Woods” and “Origins” off their 7-inch teaser already present arrangements with more body and stamina. Great indie-pop naturally sticks, so it’s nice to hear that Tennis’ new sounds are not only still hummable but a bit heavier with substance this time around.
