‣ Aimee Mann [pictured above] returns with her traditional Christmas show over at the Wiltern with friends such as Paul F Tompkins, Michael Penn, Tim Heidecker, and many more.
‣ NYC’s Cavemen plays another SoCal show at Orange County’s Detroit Bar with support from L.A.’s Races. [Check out their video for “Easy Water.”]
‣ Jesse Sykes and the Sweet Hereafter, whose band members include Whiskeytown’s guitarist Phil Wandscher) headline the Bootleg Theater. The Watson Twins and Soft White Sixties round out the night’s lineup.
‣ KROQ’s annual Almost Acoustic Christmas show returns to the Gibson Amphitheatre for a 2-day musical event. Tonight’s sold-out lineup includes blink-182, Bush, Chevelle, Social Distortion, Sublime with Rome, New Found Glory, 311 and Young the Giant. If you’re unable to attend, there will be a live webcast via KROQ’s website.
‣ Seattle’s the Cave Singers will be bringing their folk-rock jams to the Troubadour. The Builders and the Butchers support.
‣ Benji Hughes headlines the Satellite. Bowling Green, Ky.,-based band Morning Teleportation also plays, and Nico Stai plays a solo set.
‣ Metal heads who like their music with an experimental twist can head over to the Echo to see an early show featuring Scott Kelly (of Neurosis), Jay Munly (of Slim Cessna’s Auto Club) and Bob Wayne.
‣ And L.A.’s Kissing Cousins continue their residency at Casey’s. Black Lullabies and the Electra also head downtown for the night.
