The midweek mix:
‣ Dinosaur Jr. visits the Music Box to play its 1988 album “Bug” in its entirety, part of a show that will include a Q&A conducted by Henry Rollins and an opening set by Pierced Arrows.
‣ Alt-rockers Standing Shadows, who since October have released two in of a trilogy of EPs (the final one is coming in January), plug in at the Viper Room on a roaring local bill that includes Tic Tic Boom!, Odd Modern and Hyena.
‣ Burial at Sea – that’s the L.A. trio’s video for “Heartless Lover,” above – plays on a Silverlake Lounge bill headed by Australian ex-pats Neon Hymns. Sunshine Factory also plays.
‣ The Californian heads up a solid local bill at the Mint, where the quintet is joined by the Ross Sea Party, the Remainers and Rimpau.
‣ And the Ettes are back in town for a makeup show after their disastrous visit to the Echo in August. They head up a night of music and comedy at the Steve Allen Theater, where, joined by Becky Stark, Sarah Silverman, Dave Foley and Bruce McCulloch from Kids in the Hall and more, they help launch the new arts nonprofit Trepany House.
