Mark Sovel – aka Mr. Shovel, the former music director at Indie 103.1 – returns to the FM airwaves this weekend when he launches a new show on KCSN (88.5 FM). “City of Night With Mr. Shovel” will air weekly at 8 p.m. on Saturdays. It’s part of a revamped KCSN lineup that includes another former Indie 103.1 staple, “Passport Approved With Sat Bisla,” and “Unbound With Terri Nunn,” hosted by the singer known for her work with new wave icons Berlin.
Also included in KCSN’s new weekend schedule: a new time slot for the L.A. Buzz Bands Show, which will now air at 7 p.m. on Sundays.
Sovel, Bisla and Nunn join a KCSN lineup that began to morph early last year when tastemaking DJ Nic Harcourt joined the station and launched his Saturday afternoon “Connections” show. Veteran DJ Julie Slater came aboard shortly thereafter.
At Indie 103, Sovel was known for his “Check One Two” local music program, as well as producing the daily “Jonesy’s Jukebox” show with the Sex Pistols’ Steve Jones. His three-hour KCSN show will air from 8-11 p.m. on Saturdays, following Nunn’s “Unbound” (6-8 p.m.). Bisla’s “Passport Approved” will precede the L.A. Buzz Bands show from 5-7 on Sundays.
way to go KCSN!
