Flashback Friday on the Buzz Bands LA Show today on Moheak Radio: Popular With Me … 2006

Maybe it’s because it’s Friday the 13th. Maybe it’s because all those best-of-2011 lists are still fresh in my head. But suddenly I’ve been all nostalgic for 2006, so on today’s Buzz Bands LA Show on Moheak Radio, I’ve planned a special program: Popular With Me … 2006. On today’s show (11 a.m. Pacific time), I will rewind five years and play two hours worth of songs from Los Angeles bands that had me buzzing in ’06 – which, by the way, was a very good year, even if some of the contributors to my personal soundtrack in those days have not survived the test of time or the trials of music biz. We’ll not only hear from familiar folks like Silversun Pickups, Cold War Kids and Earlimart, but also from gone-but-not-forgotten (at Buzz Bands HQ, anyway) bands like the Adored, the Sharp Ease, Hello Fever, Driveblind, the Oohlas, Agent Sparks, and the Spores. It makes for an awfully entertaining playlist, if I don’t say so myself.
After the jump, have at it:
The Sharp Ease, “Remain Instant”
The Adored, “Chemistry”
Hello Fever, “Broken Lines”
Division Day, “Colorguard”
Silversun Pickups, “Well Thought Out Twinkles”
The Little Ones, “Lovers Who Uncover”
The Bronx, “White Guilt”
Mezzanine Owls, “Lightbulb”
Irving,”Jen, Nothing Matters to Me”
Cold War Kids, “Hang Me Up to Dry”
Nobody & the Mystic Chords of Memory, “Coyote’s Song (When You Hear It Too)”
Devics, “Distance Radio”
Hello Stranger, “Take It to the Maxx”
The Oohlas, “Across the Stars in Blue”
Agent Sparks, “Make Up Friend”
Earlimart, “Answers & Questions”
Gliss, “Kissing the Blvd”
Run Run Run, “Wait Up for You”
Languis, “In the Fields Of (Lonely Fences)”
Driveblind, “The Fool Rides Again”
The Meeting Places, “Love Like the Movies”
The Shys, “Astoria”
Rock Kills Kid, “Are You Nervous?”
The Spores, “(Don’t) Kill Yourself”
Midnight Movies, “Patient Eye”
The Outline, “Shotgun”
Oliver Future, “What Heart?”
Starflyer 59, “I Win”
The Monolators, “14 Degrees”
The Tyde, “Too Many Kims”
Mike Andrews, “Orange Meet Lemon”
The Gray Kid, “Lonely Love”
thanks for listening – now back to 2012 …

What ever happened to Gliss? I really enjoyed them for their Spaceland residency.
Their new (third) album is almost done. Stay tuned.
