Chicago-born, L.A.-based songstress Haroula Rose will headline the next installment of Buzz Bands LA’s monthly songwriter night at Lot 1 Cafe. Rather than our traditional second-Tuesday-of-the-month date for the series, this show will happen the first Tuesday, Feb. 7 (so we don’t conflict with your Valentine’s Day plans, naturally).
Rose, whose debut album “These Open Roads” earned comparisons to the likes of Lucinda Williams and Jenny Lewis, recently began working on her next album in Athens, Ga., with highly regarded songwriter/producer Jim White. She’ll preview some of the new songs and play selections from last January’s release. The night of acoustic or semi-acoustic performances will also include Geronimo Getty, the latest vehicle for the Americana stylings of songwriter Aaron Kyle (Le Switch); Harley Prechtel-Cortez, frontman of the L.A. quartet Just an Animal (f/k/a Red Cortez); and singer-songwriter Sloan Martin, recently arrived in L.A. from Portland, where he fronted the psych-folk band Celilo.
Doors at 9 p.m. Admission is $5. Lot 1 Cafe serves food, beer and wine.
