Mauro Remiddi may not be a new name if you’ve followed his days of scoring short films in the late ’90s or if you were a fan of British indie pop band Sunny Day Sets Fire. However, Remiddi is currently gaining a following on his own for releasing music under the moniker Porcelain Raft. After leaving his native country then bouncing from London to New York, the Italian artist’s experimentalism has evolved in to woozy bedroom pop that nicely falls in between Beach House and Pink Floyd. Following up his EP “Gone Blind” (released on Acéphale), his debut record “Strange Weekend” (out now via Secretly Canadian) continues his use of shadowy effects. Remiddi hasn’t stopped combining music and film yet either. His self-directed black and white video for “Unless You Speak From Your Heart,” which features his alter egos, reciprocates the many effects in his music.
