Mp3-pack: Meg Myers, Electric Flower, Tall Tales

Meg Myers, “After You” – Our favorite ’90s songstress who wasn’t around the in ’90s? Maybe. There’s a measured intensity in the Myers’ sharp pop that speaks, perhaps, to an ongoing negotiation between head and heart. It’s fun to monitor the proceedings.  Myers has no live band yet, but an EP is on the way.

Electric Flower, “Eclipsed” – The dynamic collaboration between guitarist Imaad Wasif and Secret Machines drummer Josh Garza shows impressive range on its second three-song EP, out March 27. Where their first installment did everything it could to singe our arm hairs, “Eclipsed” is as close to a pop song as we can imagine Wasif and Garza concocting. And the new EP features a scorched-earth take on Scott Walker’s “The Electrician.” The EP will be out on Narnack Records.

Tall Tales and the Silver Lining, “Collar to the Wind”Last year’s “Nice to Meet You Again” album from band helmed by Trevor Beld-Jimenez showcased the Ventura collective’s breezy optimism and unadorned melodies, and there’s more on the way. Tall Tales next week is releasing the next installment in their “Seasons Singles” series, and “Collar to the Wind” might suggest something wintry and foreboding but Beld-Jimenez is anything but. Tall Tales open for Ferraby Lionheart on Feb. 23 at the Bootleg Theater.
