Two great takes on folk music for the price of one – Denver’s Lumineers with their gorgeous harmonies and orchestration, and Portland’s Y La Bamba for Luzelena Mendoza’s serene vocals and her band’s Latin-flavored arrangements.
‣ @Seraphina_L recommends: Imperial Teen on Saturday at the Satellite. The resurgent indie-pop quartet visits Silver Lake in support of their recently released (and long-awaited) record, “Feel the Sound,” full of hooks that’ll have you bouncing off the walls.
‣ @Claudinesfca recommends: The Temper Trap on Monday and Tuesday at the El Rey. The Aussies create movement with every spot-on note, and their lyrics and music are fun and inviting.
