Coachella 2012: Other Lives, otherworldy (again)

Who: Other Lives in the Gobi Tent
In 3 or Fewer Words: What moves me.
Memorable Because: There’s very little I can say about Other Lives that I haven’t said time and again. The Oklahoma orchestral rockers and their sprawling, mournful/hopeful compositions can pretty much bring me to tears, at which time I want to find somebody else in tears and give them a hug. Yeah, all mushy and stuff. Saddled with a inauspicious time slot, Other Lives again delivered, the sky just starting to spit rain as they played “Tamer Animals,” and were rewarded as several in the crowd raised their arms to the sky – not to wave or pump their fists, but to move their hands as if conducting an orchestra.
What I’d Tell My Friends Who Were at the Dear Hunter: Great movie.

I have never even heard of them before I stumbled upon them at coachella. To be honest, i like them live better than recorded. It is so cliche, but if my heart and soul could play music it would sound like Other Lives hahaha! That is just the type of band they are though. The music has this power that can just move you and take you away from the fantastic chaos of coachella. One of the best shows I have ever seen. Loved them!
