Coachella 2012: Oberhofer’s paeans to young love

Who: Oberhofer in the Mojave Tent.
In 3 or Fewer Words: Young love.
Memorable Because: These guys are young. Their fans are young. However, their music is too big for the kids to keep it all to themselves. Adults will love the rambunctious tunes Brad Oberhofer and his band mates offer, too, mostly because this is pop music so unabashedly about love and only love. Their deceivingly sanguine melodies embedded with whistling and the nearly-abused glockenspiel also completes the mold for boisterous teenagers (Oberhofer just turned 20 this year), but it’s the high energy put in to wildly singing about heartbreak and drama-filled relationships that give them the leverage. Even with a zebra-striped mic (which matched his zebra-striped collared shirt), the guitar playing while writhing on his back and the climbing the scaffold bit, Oberhofer and his band are the kind of kids who bring you back to your adolescent days without even trying.
What Iād Tell My Friends Who Were at NOISA: Choose drum and bass dubstep over pop music? I’m a human ā not a robot.
