The L.A. Buzz Bands Show returns tonight to KCSN (88.5 FM, streaming at KCSN.org) after a week off – I was running around the polo grounds at Coachella – for a very special Sunday evening of local music. KCSN is in the midst of “The Pledge Express,” the listener-supported stations semiannual fund-raising drive that’s unlike most you hear on public radio. Instead of a lot of banter, I’ll be sticking mostly to the music, as well as telling you about the benefits and premiums of becoming a KCSN supporter. This week’s SoCal music playlist gives you plenty of bang for your buck: I have new tunes from Blondfire, Races, Broken Anchor, Queen Caveat and the Golden Ghosts, along with recent favorites from the Neighbourhood and Delta Spirit. And there will be a helping of material from artists dotting next week’s concert calendar, including Magic Wands, Soft Swells, Michael Davis With Lions and Jonneine Zapata.
Tune in at 7 p.m. After the jump, the playlist:
Magic Wands, “Black Magic”
Soft Swells, “Put It on the Line”
Blondfire, “Hide and Seek”
Races, “Song of Birds”
The Neighbourhood, “Sweater Weather”
JJAMZ, “Heartbeat”
Queen Caveat, “Bullet”
Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, “40 Day Dream”
Delta Spirit, “California”
The Golden Ghosts, “Heart of Coal”
Michael Davis With Lions, “Real Love (Bandages)”
Broken Anchor, “Leave the Light On”
Jonneine Zapata, “Good Looking”
Tyler Lyle, “When I Say that I Love You”
thanks for listening …

Who was the last song you played by? The acoustic one? I dug it.
