May 5:
‣ Hard to imagine there is a more Angeleno way to observe today’s “holiday” than with L.A. icons Los Lobos. They headline Cinco de Mayo Festival at the Greek Theatre, joined by Neko Case, Alejandro Escovedo and Flaco Jimenez, with guests X and Mariachi El Bronx opening. Doors open at 3 p.m., with three local bands performing on the plaza outside the Greek: La Santa Cecelia, Ollin and 44s with Kid Ramos.
‣ Seattle folk singer Rocky Votolato headlines the Troubadour behind his fine new album “Television of Saints.”
‣ Canadian sensation the Weeknd plays at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
‣ Diplo along with the Mad Decent Crew appear the Mike D-curated “Transmission L.A.: AV Club” series at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. The exhibition is scheduled to close this weekend.
‣ And the KROQ Weenie Roast goes off at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater with Coldplay, Garbage, Incubus, the Offspring, Silversun Pickups, Pennywise, Angels and Airwaves, Grouplove, AWOLNATION and more.
