Video: Julia Stone, ‘It’s All Okay’

1

Australia’s brother-sister duo Angus and Julia Stone have crossed all oceans after several EPs and three albums together, but every once in a while they take time apart. Angus released a solo album in 2009, and Julia released “The Memory Machine” in 2010. This time, Julia’s record “By the Horns” (out May 29 on Nettwerk) will have a head start (Angus’ “Broken Lights” is slated for a July 2012 release), and she’s reunited with Patrick Dillet (David Byrne, Mary J. Blige) and brought in Thomas Bartlett (The National) during her studio time. The album still boasts that small but bright voice, but Julia’s strides as a singer-songwriter seems to have elongated and gained strength. Songs like her latest single, “It’s All Okay,” sparkle with a driving piano riff in the midst of an eerie soundscape, and her vocals unveil a brand new gumption.
