Sometimes you hear a voice and wonder where it’s been all this time, and why this voice hasn’t been singing all your favorite songs all along. Often such an artist had been writing hit songs for other people, and that’s exactly the case with Scottish soul and R&B singer Emeli Sandé. With tunes like the heavy pop anthem “Heaven” gaining international success – and eventually winning her a Brit Award – Sandé added to a resumé that included writing credits for the likes of Leona Lewis, Cheryl Cole and Tinie Tempah. Deciding not to go by her real first name Adele (after Adele Adkins’ success with albums “19”) didn’t break her stride, either. Transforming herself from a behind-the-scenes girl with her piano to a vocal prowess with several powerful pop hits now under her belt, the spotlight on her has finally moved to this side of the ocean, too.
