Your spectacular Saturday:
‣ The legendary Beach Boys celebrate their 50th anniversary with a reunion tour and stop by the Hollywood Bowl with their pop-laden harmonies.
‣ Glasgow’s post-rock band Mogwai tear it up at the Fonda Theatre with Chad Van Gaalen as support.
‣ Cass McCombs headlines the El Rey Theatre in support of both 2011 albums, “WIT’S END” and “Humor Risk.” [That’s his video for “Bradley Manning” above.] The Entrance Band opens.
‣ The Ruby Friedman Orchestra, whose debut album is slated for a release this summer, plays a sold-out show at the Troubadour. [Grab “Hang Around” here.] Other acts rounding out the night: K’noup & Kelly, Help the Doctor, the Relative Strangers, Abbot Kinney and Symphony.
‣ And Détective, the new band featuring Guided By Voices’ James Greer and Useless Keys’ Guylaine Vivarat, celebrates the vinyl release of their EP “Basket of Masks.” [Grab “Rhodesian Man” and “Monochrome Girl” here.] Others joining the party include Mistick Krewe of Clove ‘n’ Hoof, Nora Keyes, Laughing Eye Weeping Eye and Azalia Snail.
