‣Â Dot Hacker, the venture helmed by current Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, headlines the Satellite on an eventful night: Yellow Red Sparks celebrate the release of their new EP, “Four Steps in Corsets”; the Chuck Dukowski Sextet (Dukowski is Black Flag’s founding bassist) celebrates the release of its new album “Haunted”; and Capgun Coup and Mike Watt & the Missingmen also perform.
‣ John Doe (pictured) headlines the Echo – the X co-founder’s most recent solo album “Keeper” came out in August on Yep Roc, and it’s a keeper. The Lonely Wild and Son Ark support.
‣ Grammy Award-winning New Orleans phenoms the Rebirth Brass Band bring the funk to the Mint.
‣ Canadian quintet Walk Off The Earth, whose Gotye cover has blown up YouTube and have now taken on Nirvana, play to a sold-out El Rey Theatre, supported by Avalanche City and the Mowgli’s.
‣ And Phantom Planet is back for a second sold-out night at the Troubadour, this time with Blake Mills opening.
