Video: Sylvie Lewis, ‘The Fish and The Bird’

It’s hard not to be charmed by Sylvie Lewis. The London chanteuse has been busy touring with the likes of Sondre Lerche and Adam Cohen, since 2005’s “Tango and Tantrums,” but Lewis has finally put out new alluring material. Her latest studio album “It’s All True” has musical imprints from the many friends she’s made from trotting around the globe, including producer Richard Swift. Lewis reunited with Swift in his Oregon studio about a year ago only to yield songs like the lilting “The Song I Sang Before I Met You,” co-written with U.K.’s electro-pop star Gary Go, and “Streets of Rome” featuring Sondre Lerche’s guitar work. Other friends who have lent a hand in the studio include Ondanueve String Quartet, Don Henry and film composer Pasqaule Catalno, but it’s Lewis’ sweet jazz-influenced delivery that gels these collaborations together. Her stop-animation video for “The Fish and The Bird,” directed by acclaimed director Marco Morandi, also sprinkles on some more endearing effects.
