‣ It’s a big night for the Hollywood Bowl as legendary county artist Glen Campbell stops by as part of “The Goodbye Tour.” [See his video for “A Better Place.] Tonight’s show kicks off KCRW’s World Fest at the venue and features guests Dawes, Jackson Browne, Kris Kristofferson, Jenny Lewis, Lucinda Williams and Courtney Taylor-Taylor (of the Dandy Warhols).
‣ For shoegaze fans, it’s a noise-filled Sunday thanks to Part-Time Punks’ Shoegaze Festival, which starts at 4:00 P.M. at the Echo. Mark Gardener headlines with classic Ride tunes and popgazers Sky Parade will join. Also rounding out the reverb-filled festivities: Weekend, Lorelei, Half String, Astrobrite, Tropic of Cancer, Whirr, Moonbeams and Tennis System. [See set times here.]
All Spots to Black, aka multi-instrumentalist Philip Krohnengold, headlines a show at the Bootleg Bar. Krohnengold has an impressive resume which boasts recording and Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) and Gary Louris (The Jayhawks) and playing for artists such as Gomez, Ben Harper, Duncan Sheik and more on tour. L.A. folk songstress Leslie Stevens opens.
‣ Inside Bootleg Theater, Clogs – whose founding members include the National’s Bryce Desnner – will bring their minimalistic yet elegant folk which blurs the line between modern and classical. Desnner will not be performing with the group but Padma Newsome and Rachael Elliott will be joined by special guest guitarist Ben Cassorla. Eagle Rock Gospel Singers support.
