[For your planning pleasure, here’s a straight-up list of what’s ahead this week, with our picks:]
Incoming: Graffiti6, Warships, 2:54, the Heavy, Gardens & Villa, El-P, Keane, Jonathan Richman, the B-52’s, Squeeze, Mystery Jets, Foster the People, the Soft Pack, Standing Shadows and more.
Our staff picks of the week:
@KRBronson recommends: U.K. funk-soul dynamos the Heavy return to the U.S. for a handful of shows in advance of the Aug. 21 release of their new album “The Glorious Dead.” The band that gave us (and TV commericals) the single “How You Like Me Now?” visits the Bootleg Theater on Thursday.
@Seraphina_L recommends: NO, Hands and HOTT MT at the Satellite on Friday. With Hands’ recently released “Massive Context” EP and NO and HOTT MT each putting out new 7-inch singles soon, this local bill has plenty of new tunes to boast.

So excited because one of my favorite bands – Fitz & The Tantrums – are opening for Ben Harper at the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday, July 1st. I’m working with the Bowl and this is the first of my favorite shows for the season. You mentioned that Ben Harper was playing, but I also wanted to point out that the amazing Fitz & the Tantrums were playing that same show (and, Vieux Farke Toure, who I’m looking forward to checking out). There’s still tickets available, here: http://hbowl.com/BenHarperJuly1
