Electro alchemists Superhumanoids, Newbury Park whiz kids the Neighbourhood and prolific Eastside rockers Light FM will be three of the bands playing this year’s edition of Bloomfest – the free street fair scheduled for Saturday, July 21, in the downtown L.A. arts district.
The neighborhood music, art and food gathering this year also will expand to two stages. Details on that and further additions to the lineup are expected in the coming weeks. Official announcement of the first batch of bands is expected on the Bloomfest website tonight.
Superhumanoids’ debut LP “Exhibitionists” is due this fall [here’s the latest on them]. The Neighbourhood made noise earlier this year with the release of its debut EP “I’m Sorry,” and Light FM is working on a follow-up to last year’s album “Buzz Kill City.” In addition to those two bands, Robotanists and Yellow Alex & the Feelings are also in the mix for the festival, which will run from 2 to 10 p.m. at 3rd Street and Traction Avenue downtown and is named in honor of longtime community activist, the late Joel Bloom.
