[ A few cool new tunes that have come across our radar…]

Waters, “If Only” – Although released separately from the album “Out in the Light,” which came out last year on TBD, Van Pierszalowski (formerly of Port O’Brien) offers another song he recorded during the same session. Bursting with psychedelic-pop riffs in the midst of a deliriously fuzzy soundscape, it’s hard to believe he left it off the record. Also, grab “Take Me Out to the Coast.” Waters is currently on tour with Nada Surf.

Purity Ring, “Fineshrine” – Lush R&B-pop beat-makers Purity Ring, whose members consist of Halifax/Montreal’s Corin Rodick and Megan James, return with the bumping single “Fineshrine.” The single is from their highly-anticipated forthcoming album “Shrines,” which is slated for a July 24 release on 4AD. They play Sept. 1 at FYF Fest.

Tu Fawning, “Anchor” – Portland, Ore.,-based quartet Tu Fawning released “A Moment” earlier this year on City Slang, which is full of billowy and rhythmic tunes like “Anchor.” Check out their video for the track here.
