When the ’90s do return, Jr. Juggernaut stands at the ready. The blue-collar trio of Mike Williamson, Wal Rashidi, Mario Framingheddu crunches like Dinosaur Jr. and Buffalo Tom, and even another notable three-piece of the era, Nirvana. There’s plenty of cathartic roar on the L.A. trio’s sophomore album “Wake,” which was recently picked up by Paper + Plastick Records, the imprint founded by Less than Jake drummer Vinnie Fiorello. The label’s “The Sounds of Summer 2012” offers an eclectic mix that largely will remind you of what it was like back in the day – a sentiment tacitly acknowledged in the Jr. Juggernaut track: “The revolution / never felt so far behind.”
