Ruby Friedman Orchestra, the Lonely Wild and the New Limb to kick off KCSN/Buzz Bands LA series

The Ruby Friedman Orchestra, joined by two of the city’s brightest up-and-coming indie bands the Lonely Wild and the New Limb, will kick off a new live music series on Tuesday, July 31, at the Federal Bar in North Hollywood. Co-presented by KCSN (88.5 FM), Buzz Bands LA and the Federal Bar, the series is aimed at bringing top-drawer local bands to the eastern San Fernando Valley hub of NoHo.

The series could hardly have a more dynamic performer for its inaugural. Friedman and her band [see what we said about them in 2011] are wrapping work on their debut album, and shows this year at the Hotel Cafe and the Troubadour had onlookers comparing the songstresses to some of pop’s great divas.

The Lonely Wild’s pop-Americana, showcasing the boy/girl vocals of Andrew Carroll and Jessi Williams, shone on last year’s “Dead End” EP. And the New Limb, too, will bring exuberant vocal harmonies to the show; the Orange County-bred quintet recently finished recording its debut and will be armed with new material.

The show will go off in the Federal Bar’s upstairs music venue, a 250-capacity room that promises fans a quality but intimate show. Doors are at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are $10 and available here. Discounts are available – visit our Facebook page for more information.
