Buzz Bands LA Show, today at 11 on Moheak Radio, with a special preview of the 3rd New L.A. Folk Fest

Many of L.A.’s eyes and ears are on Hard Summer this weekend, but there’s another music festival that’s offering a unique experience. The 3rd New L.A. Folk Fest brings 30-plus artists to rustic Zorthian Ranch in Altadena on Saturday, showcasing SoCal’s robust, eclectic and DIY folk scene. On today’s Buzz Bands LA Show on Moheak Radio, I devote the first hour to artists playing the Folk Fest – and as you’ll find, they make for an excellent Friday mixtape. The second hour of today’s local-music feast includes a sampling of August’s resident bands (Meg Myers, Wildcat! Wildcat!, Francisco the Man and the Ross Sea Party), along with new tunes from Redd Kross, Tempest, Miner, Dum Dum Girls and the Black Apples.

Tune in to Moheak at 11 a.m., check out the station’s fundraiser at Indiegogo.com and find the playlist (and a downloadable podcast) for today’s program after the jump:
