Guitar, bass and drums, seared by the flame of urgent vocals. Athens, Ga., trio the Whigs haven’t changed the formula much over seven years and three albums, nor have they needed to. Now subscribers to the straight-up rock ’n’ roll tenets of guitarist Parker Gispert, bassist Timothy Deaux and drummer Julian Dorio have another chapter waiting for them: The Whigs’ fourth album “Enjoy the Company” will be Sept. 18 (via New West Records), and it not only has one of our favorite ablum covers of the year (see it after the jump), it’s evidence the trio hasn’t lost its edge, or its urges, for that matter.
