The Soft Pack, “Tall Boy” – Ever wonder why kids favor “tall boys” when they drink these days? Well, the Soft Pack takes the sad tale of alcohol-filled nights and turns it into the psychedelic tune “Tall Boy,” which beckons people to the dance floor before they actually hit the floor during a bender. Their forthcoming album “Strapped” is due out Sept. 25 via Mexican Summer. Also, check out “Saratoga.”
Tamaryn, “I”m Gone” – Mexican Summer hits gold again. This time the stoic Tamaryn releases “I”m Gone” which inches her shoegaze tendencies more toward dream-pop than desert music. She still plays the “damaged” role pretty well, but this song sure sounds more upbeat than anything else she’s released. Her album “Tender New Signs” is slated for an Oct. 16 release on Mexican Summer.
High Highs, “Once Around the House” – Australian-born, Brooklyn-based High Highs stole our hearts with falsetto harmonies, swelling melodies and the gorgeous “Open Season” a couple years back. The duo now returns with a brand new song titled “Once Around the House,” which is another delicate slow-burner. High Highs are currently working on their debut full-length.
