Wonder how this is going to affect the concept of “Gonna Make My Money.” The L.A.-based distaff blues duo Deap Vally has signed a deal with Island/Communion – Communion Records being the London-based imprint co-founded by Mumford & Son’s Ben Lovett.
Deap Vally, the collaboration between singer-guitarist Lindsey Troy and drummer-singer Julie Edwards (who met in one of Edwards’ needlework classes), made some big noise with early singles “End of the World” (premiered here) and “Gonna Make My Own Money.” They’ve been busy this summer winning fans across the Atlantic and plan to return later this month to begin work on their album with Lars Stalfors. They also have tours later this year with the Vaccines (Europe) and Thurston Moore / Dinosaur Jr. (Tokyo).

met in needlework class? Are you sure they’re not a fictitious group created by Fred Armisan?
It’s true, they did. http://www.thelittleknittery.com/
