Stream: Atoms for Peace, ‘Default’

The twitch is back. Thom Yorke on Thursday night unveiled a new song from his project Atoms for Peace, the band assembled when the Radiohead main man toured behind his solo album “The Eraser.” That all-star cast includes Nigel Godrich (production/programming), Joey Waronker (drums), Mauro Refosco (percussion) and Flea (bass). Explains Yorke in the press release: “We got a big buzz from [the shows] and discovered loads of energy from transforming the music from electronic to live, and so afterwards, we carried on for a few days in the studio and decided to make it a loose, ongoing thing. Immersed in the area between the two … electronic and live.” The first single from the collaboration is “Default” (streaming above as the video assembles a linocut we assume to be the work of Stanley Donwood, who did “The Eraser” album art). And an album is on the way in 2013.
