@KRBronson recommends: A double dose of Blondfire. The band fronted by the sibling duo Bruce and Erica Driscoll perform the early set Tuesday night at the KCSN / Buzz Bands LA event “Free at the Fed” at the Federal Bar in North Hollywood. [Doors at 7:30, with Blondfire at 8, followed by Go West Young Man and Western Scene.] Then, on Saturday, Blondfire will be part of the lineup for Tarfest at the La Brea Tar Pits Park, where they will be joined by So Many Wizards, Soft Swells, Helena, the Makepeace Brothers and the Steelwells. It’s free and starts at 2 p.m.
@Seraphina_L recommends: Band of Skulls at the Fonda Theatre on Wednesday. Scorching British rock trio Band of Skulls roars through L.A. again and they’ve got two strong local bands backing them up. IO Echo has a self-titled EP on the way Oct. 16 (their highly-anticipated full length “Ministry of Love” follows in early 2012), and young rockers Dreamers Dose will be sure to play some of those new songs off of their forthcoming Alain Johannes-produced album.
