Troup, Paper Pilots and Mighty Forces to play Buzz Bands LA’s SecondTuesday on Oct. 9 at Lot 1 Cafe

Troup, the L.A.-based pop-rock quintet fronted by Welsh singer-guitarist Alex Troup, heads up the lineup for Buzz Bands LA’s SecondTuesday night on Oct. 9 at Lot 1 Cafe. The band will joined by Paper Pilots and Mighty Forces.

Troup earlier this year released their tuneful “Last Chance for Romance,” and album that reflects the songwriter’s Britpop past as filtered through his recent American experiences. Paper Pilots is the new vehicle for songwriter Justin David, who recently debuted the song “Catch the Lamplight Low.” And Mighty Forces is the latest incarnation of the music of Evan Slamka (here teaming up with Nic Johns); Slamka, of course, fronted the band Marjorie Fair (which released the regrettably overlooked album “Self Help Serenade” in 2005) and then went on to make music as Square on Square. Mighty Forces takes Slamka’s songwriting in a pysch-pop direction.

Here’s your Facebook invitation. Doors at 9. A $5 donation goes to the performers. Lot 1 Cafe serves food, beer and wine.
