Nic Harcourt, the former music director and DJ at KCRW who jumped to KCSN (88.5 FM) last year, is returning to the Los Angeles airwaves on a daily basis. The all-music, listener-supported KCSN announced today that Harcourt would take over the station’s morning show (6 to 11 a.m.) beginning next week.
In another move announced by the Cal State Northridge-based station today, Mark Sovel β aka “Mr. Shovel,” the former music director at Indie 103.1 and current host of KCSN’s “City of Night” on Saturdays β has been named music director.
KCSN also announced that Jackson Browne would head up a major benefit show on Nov. 18 at the Valley Performing Arts Center. Browne will be joined by Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Sara Watkins and others at the concert, part of a fundraising effort to help the station boost its signal strength across SoCal.
In a press release, KCSN general manager and program director Sky Daniels said: βNic has established a strong, international reputation in music. We are thrilled that he seeks to re-invent himself at 88.5 KCSN with a show that will reveal a broader scope of his musical awareness, integrating the best new music with the powerful legacy acts of Los Angeles radio.β
KCSN is also home to the L.A. Buzz Bands Show featuring local music every Sunday at 7 p.m.
…and LA radio just got better!! Mark is where he belongs!
How will the tickets be distributed for the 11/18/2012 fund raiser with Jackson Browne? Will they be auctioned like last year. That eliminates everyone that has a problem receiving the stations signal but would like to help.
Expect word from KCSN early this week. As of the weekend, a few details had not been ironed out.
Are the Walsh and Schmit still scheduled to appear with Jackson?
