‣ Paul Weller teams up with Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings for what ought to be a lively night at the Greek Theatre. Weller’s latest album “Sonik Kicks” came out in March.
‣ Soul man (kid?) Allen Stone – he of the 25-year-old body and the timeless pipes – headlines the Fonda Theatre. Seems like only yesterday he was playing the Echo.
‣ Frightened Rabbit in September released a new EP, “State Hospital” – the Scottish indie-rockers’ first new music since they wowed us with “The Winter of Mixed Drinks” in 2010. Scott Hutchison and gang headline the Troubadour, with Arc In Round supporting.
‣ Mint Condition, 20-plus years old now and still going strong, hold forth at Club Nokia behind their new album “Music at the Speed of Life.
‣ And the Growlers kick off a two-night stand at the Observatory, co-presented by Burger Records, and on the first evening the supporting cast includes Pangea, Tijuana Panthers, The Abigails, Dante Vs Zombies, Cosmonauts, Summer Twins and Methadone Kitty.
