Ears Wide Open: Song Preservation Society

2

With a name like Song Preservation Society, you get the feeling Daniel Wright, Trevor Bahnson and Ethan Glazer are trying to keep their music organic. And that’s true for the most part when it comes to the L.A.-based folk-rock trio, whose acoustic stylings are composed of not much more than three voices, three guitars and a bouquet of harmonies. The Berklee College of Music graduates originally honed their skills in Boston, but their classic sensibilities make the songs on their September release “Ready Room” sound as if they’ve always been written for California. Robust like the scenery in the Golden State, Song Preservation Society highlights the natural, hearty and pure elements in their songs, and the full arrangements (strings, woodwind, brass) make theirs a society for sophisticates.
