I guess the lesson here is that there are a lot of talented video directors out there willing to work on spec. Like Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros did for their “Child” video, M83 invited fans to submit visuals for “Steve McQueen” via a competition run through Genero.tv. The video directed by Balthazar Auxietre and Sylvain Derosne, one of 126 submitted, won the competition (and its cash prize) … somehow depicting how our brain looks when we’re at an M83 show.
